WHAT ARE MY ENROLLMENT OPTIONS?
  • Blue Sky Usage (for Oregon customers) – Match 100% of my electricity use each month with renewable energy from the West for an additional $0.013 per kilowatt-hour (about $12 more per month for the average customer*). Likely to include wind (34%) and solar (66%) from the West.
  • Blue Sky Habitat (for Oregon customers) – Same as Blue Sky Usage plus you help restore and preserve native fish habitats in Oregon through a donation of $2.50 per month to The Freshwater Trust (a nonprofit organization) on top of the Blue Sky Usage charge.
  • Blue Sky Block – Match a portion of my electricity use with wind and solar from the West (likely to include 73% wind and 27% solar) in 100-kilowatt-hour blocks and help fund new community-based renewable energy projects in my state. The additional fixed cost is $1.95 per block per month.

*Based on the average Oregon residential customer’s usage of 925 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month.

WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?

Pacific Power doesn’t make a profit from the Blue Sky program. Renewable energy supported by Blue Sky participants is above and beyond the basic service mix.

Here’s where your money can go:

Renewable Energy Certificates: Pacific Power purchases RECs on your behalf from newly developed facilities in your region.

  • Usage & Habitat: By adding a small donation to Usage, participants enroll in Habitat which helps fund native fish habitat restoration. Learn more here.
  • Block: Blue Sky Block supports the construction of community-based renewable energy projects in your state.

Education, Outreach and Administration: We dedicate a portion of the program funds toward providing customers with education and awareness about their renewable energy options.

  • Your participation in the Blue Sky® program helps reduce the carbon footprint associated with your electricity use. Carbon footprint reduction is based on the difference between the 2023 Blue Sky Block & Blue Sky Usage mixes and the 2022 PacifiCorp fuel mix (PacifiCorp, 2024).
  • Laundry electricity consumption based on a single laundry load, for a washer using 0.43 kilowatt-hours, and a dryer using 2.00 kilowatt-hours of electricity (Shrink That Footprint, 2024).
  • Electric vehicles use on average 32.18 kilowatt-hours per 100 miles (DOE Fuel Economy Guide, 2024).
  • One LED light bulb consumes 11.0 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year when used for 3 hours per day (EnergySage, 2024).
  • The average drip coffee maker used 2 hours per day needs 1200 watts of energy to produce a pot of coffee (ElectricityPlans.com).
